about

I was producing a play in Toronto when I met Mark Vogelsang. He was in a band at the time called picturesound with Fabio Sartori, and they were providing live music during the show. Around that time I put on monthly events called myWORD mostly at the Cameron House. I'd invited Mark and Fabio to perform, and it was the first time Mark heard my songs. He invited me to come to his apartment on Jarvis and record some songs. On January 2, 2004, in a little bathroom with red furry rugs hung to stop the sound from bouncing too much, I lay down most of what was in my repertoire at the time.

I've never been one to keep a journal, so it's hard to remember with accuracy how it all went. Whether it was on this day or a day soon afterwards that I left that apartment with a feeling that I'll never forget. I decided in that moment that I wanted to pursue music. I didn't know what that really meant, and I don't know what that really means now. But I remember the feeling was so wonderful, and it made a lot of room for joy in my life.

Since then, Mark and I made 3 records (Feudal Ladies Club, how we think about light, and See Your Midnight Breath in the Shipyard). Our friendship is one I treasure. Without Mark's encouragement, I'm sure I would have taken a different path. Funny how one day can change the course of your life.

about

Megan Hamilton Kingston, Ontario

Megan Hamilton finds joy in music. Hamilton has released five recordings and her fifth came out 9/2015 – Forty Warm Streams to Lead Your Wings, a full-length piece produced by Jim Bryson (Kathleen Edwards, Oh Susanna).

Streams is Hamilton at her most honest, exploring themes in a more raw and jagged manner while alternately smoothing out the creases.

Coming September 25, 2015.
